Kate Percy pauses, frowning at the blog post she's drafting. Nobody has come to her office to ask for a snack or a Band-Aid or any of the other interruptions a stay-at-home mother is accustomed to.

Which means someone, somewhere, is probably getting in trouble.

She clicks "Save draft" -- it's not going anywhere interesting, anyway; she needs more coffee -- pushes back from her desk, and pokes her head into the hallway to listen for things breaking.

Harry is not much celebrated for his self-control, which is a shame, perhaps, because when exercised, it can be mighty.

For instance, even now, his hand splayed over the small of her back, he pulls away and furrows his brow. "Did you finish your blog post?"

The very picture of an innocent question.

Kate groans and thumps him in the shoulder.

"I know what you're doing, you cad."

His mouth twitches, but he focuses instead on Kate's clavicle, pulling down her collar with a light touch born of practice. "And what is that? Tell me what I'm doing, gentle Kate."

[adivasheadvoices]

"You," she says, cocking her head, "are trying to drive me to distraction."

She nuzzles her way to his ear and catches the lobe between her teeth for a moment. "Two can play at that game."

[newredmuses]

He laughs, though in the moment, it comes out as more of a quick huff. "Must I try? How domesticated we've become."

[adivasheadvoices]

"I beg your pardon?"

She catches his earlobe between her teeth again, biting harder and growling.

Domesticated, are they?

There it is, you tinderbox.

Not so suddenly that he'd lose an ear, but he moves quick enough. Next that both of them know, he's hitched both her legs up around his waist and has her back pressed against the wall. There's one spot, just there on her throat, that's so much easier to reach from below.

Kate lets out a little noise of surprise and pleasure, locks her ankles in the small of his back, and slides one hand into the hair at the nape of his neck.

God save them both, but she makes him hungry. He follows the long line down her throat to her clavicle, his free hand working at the buttons of her shirt. He lingers and nips, particularly where her voice thrums.

She laughs and kisses her forehead -- until his teeth find her skin and her breath catches.

When she tips her head back against the wall, though, and tightens her grip on his hair, she's chuckling again.
